Report by B Hay. Two Mk.301 engines have been rejected from test this year for nodding. The modes of vibration on the Mk.301 engine are complex. Very low frequency modes exist in addition to the engine order modes. Comments from TG Smith: A design scheme is required to clear a 'solid centre' bearing housing for Viper 20
