Description

United Kingdom: Wales, southwest coast: Pembrokeshire: Pembroke Dock. 'Survey of PaterFort and Ground belonging to the Ordnance with the Intended Dock Yard and adjacent Lands belonging to Wm [William] Merrick Esqr [Esquire]’. Survey shows coastline, hydrography, land use (fields, gardens, lime kilns, quarry), road, fortifications and remarks. Colour manuscript. Watermark: 'J Whatman'. North point (orientation to the southwest). Scale: 7.1 inches to 1200 feet. 'taken by the Direction of Sir Thomas Boulden Thompson Baronet 20 Octr [October] 1813'; '(signed) Edward Holl [architect to the Navy Board]'. Annotated: (in black ink): mention of several letters inlcuding from Mr Barrow [Second Secretary to the Admiralty] to Lieutenant General and Principal Officers of the Ordnance dated 13 November 1813, and correspondence between Mr Crow to Lieutenant General Mann between 15 November 1813 and 14 December 1813; (in pencil): 'Pembroke'; (in red crayon): '69'. Endorsed (in black ink): 'Pater Yard No. [Number] 88 Navy Bd [Board] 3 Novr [November] 1813', [illegible obscured by linen backing]
