After the National Health Service reforms of 1974, Warrington District was a part of the Cheshire Area Health Authority and was administered by the District Management Team of Senior Officers. In the reforms of 1982, the Area Health Authority was abolished and Warrington District Health Authority was established. In 1993 the Authority merged with Halton Health Authority to form the North Cheshire Health Authority.
