Lodge of St. John was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge on 31 March 1806 to meet as No. 139. A Lodge [SN 636] meeting at the Star Inn, Stalybridge Road, Mottram in Longdendale, was originally granted this number on 21 October 1765 but the Lodge ceased to meet soon after this date. On 13 January 1775 a Lodge at the Swan with Two Necks, Dobcross, Saddleworth was granted a warrant to meet as No. 139 [SN 900]. This lodge relocated to the Star Inn, High Moor in 1803 but lapsed about two years later. The number 139 was then re-allocated in 1806 to a third lodge, meeting at the Bunch of Grapes, Manchester Hill, Stockport, Lancashire. This lodge was named in 1815 and still exists today, meeting as No. 104 [SN 1469] at the Masonic Guildhall, Stockport.
