Surname: HARRISON;

Forename(s): George;

Initials: G;

Rank: Capt;

MGC Branch: Infantry;

MGC Unit: 33 Bn;

Awarded: MC, bar to MC, MID;

Gallantry Notes: Citation MC: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While he was preparing battery positions to cover an intended attack on the following morning he was surprised by an enemy barrage of extreme violence. He got his battery into action at once despite most trying circumstances and heavy casualties. The other battery commander of his group having been killed, he rearranged in a very limited time, his barrage programme and laid out new lines for all the guns of the group under very heavy fire and got them into action with great success during the attack. He showed splendid leadership and courage.

Citation, bar to MC: For conspicuous gallantry and untiring devotion to duty during the operations from 9 October to 28 October 1918 , west and east of the river Selle, culminating in the capture of Englefonteine. He carried out many daring reconnaisances under heavy shell and machine gun fire. His intimate knowledge of the ground obtained by personal reconnaisance was of great assistance to his Commanding Officer enabling the guns to be pushed forward to the most advanced posts from whence most valuable assistance wasgiven to the infantry.;
