50 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 36 inch cylinder, 6 foot stroke, parallel motion.

Reverse general section of the engine and boiler, ground plan of the engine with altered boiler position stuck on, sections and plans of the engine; 1 original and reverse plans and sections of the engine house showing connection to rolls etc.; reverse plan of the cylinder and boiler tops, cross-section of the boiler and seating showing chimney; reverse ground plan and general section of the engine house, Oct. 1792; plan of the engine and boilers and band race, rolls, slitters, tilt hammers etc., general view of the engine and plan showing band race, rolls, slitters, tilt hammers etc.; reverse plan of the engine and boiler houses showing 2 boilers and section of chimney; reverse plans and sections of the boiler and seating; plummer blocks and gudgeons (attached are small drawings of gudgeon for New River Head No. 2, Nov 1793, and plummer block for Tate, Mar. 1794); perpendicular pipe, cross pipe - reverse drawings; parallel motion - 2 sheets of reverse drawings dated Aug. and Sep. 1792; condenser vessel - reverse drawing; crank and lower part of connecting rod - original and reverse drawings; working gear - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse front and side views; fly wheel, damper plate and frame, fire door and frame, grate and bearer bars - reverse drawings; pinion pattern - original and reverse drawings; steam pipes and sockets - reverse drawings. All the drawings bear letter codes.
Also the following uncoded and undated items: plan and section of boiler; sketch plan of premises showing canal, wharf, casting house, pot shop, coke house etc.; 2 draft plans of the engine house showing connections to machinery; small sketch plan of engine house and 2 boilers and room for 12 grindstones; pencil plan of flywheel and crank.

For Wastel Cliffe of West Bromwich, John Hodgson of Birmingham, William Hunt of Birmingham and John Thompson of The Brades, Rowley, steel manufacturers. For Brades Steel Works, Rowley, near Dudley, Staffordshire. Sometimes referred to as "The Brades engine."
