Born Annette Folwell, 21st October 1927, in Leicester. Moved to Manchester at 3 weeks of age. She lived in Barton Street, Moss Side, then in Arnold Road, Whalley Range. She lived at 23 Egerton Road Chorlton-cum-Hardy until 1935. She returned to spend school holidays with her grandmother until she was 15. Her mother Edith Folwell (Nee Main) was widowed in 1941. She married Frederick Caddy of Dorchester, Dorset in 1942.
