These papers are present in the Senhouse family archives because of the executorship duties which Humphrey Senhouse undertook of the estates of Sir George Fleming of Rydal, Bishop of Carlisle (died 1747), and of Sir George's son William Fleming, Archdeacon of Carlisle (died 1743). Humphrey Senhouse married Mary, daughter of Sir George Fleming, who was one of her father's coheiresses.
