The files cover political affairs in Bahrain, including the possible migration of the Bu Sumait tribe from Bandar e-Lingeh; Persian claims on Bahrain; territorial jurisdiction of Bahrain's pearling banks; relations and disputes between members of the ruling Āl Khalīfah family; Britain's slave trade treaty with Bahrain; the institution of a Bahrain Order in Council; jurisidiction over Hasawis resident in Bahrain; and Bahrain's Majlis al-Urfi, or civil court. The files cover the period running up to and encompassing the First World War. Recurrent topics running through the files include the German presence in Bahrain, the question of jurisdiction over foreign nationals, and relations and correspondence between the Al Khalifa family and Turkish officials.
