The society was registered under the Industrial and Friendly Societies Act in 1926, for the purpose of retailing eggs in the Tunbridge Wells area. By 1947 it had become the largest co-operative egg packing society in the country, with packing stations at Stonegate, Newick and Wye, and a head office opened in Wadhurst in 1941.
