-
Brown and black half-leather album, 435x280mm, in very poor physical condition, containing mounted photographs, newspaper cuttings and ephemera. The majority of photographs have handwritten captions and a hand-drawn title-page reads: 'Scrap book. Henry R. Winship, Howrah, Calcutta, East Indies, May 15th 1862'. Winship worked for the East Indian Railway and many of the views relate to locations and buildings associated with the line, including Howrah, Monghyr and Jamalpur, as well as portraits of railway personnel. There are also more general topographical views in India, the Middle East and Europe. The newspaper cuttings bear no relation to the photographs and are mostly extracts from illustrated journals. Process = Albumen prints. Photographers = Unknown.,;.
