Aircraft at Bitteswell: Canberra WD.933 (AS Sa.115/119) Performance testing continued up to altitudes of 43,000 ft. Meteor WA.820 (AS Sa.105/108) Nacelle cooling tests have continued on the ground. Running time for the month Sa.105 6 hours 10 mins (ground), Sa.108 10 minutes (ground). Blackburn YB.1 WB.797 (DM.209) Investigations being made to improve relighting the Double Mamba engine. Flying time for the month 10 hours 20 minutes. Gannet VR.557 (DM.213) Several relighting tests were made and on one occasion it was lite on the first attempt. Flying time for the month 10 hours. Wyvern VW.868 (ASP.115) During flight trials rpm deviation of up to 1500 rpm was recorded. Flying time for the week ASP.115 1 hour 30 mintes (ground); 1 hour 30 minutes (flight). Lancastrian SW.342 (ASZ.107, ASV.5) No work was carried out during the month. The Viper had not been delivered for installation. Javelin WD.808 (Sa.116/117) Moreton Valence: Flight resonance tests have been continued throughout the month. Running time for SA.116 10 hours 29 mintes (flight); Sa.117 10 hours 29 minutes (ground). Javelin WT.827 (Sa.124/126) Moreton Valence: Ground running prior to initial flight was completed. Hunter WB.202 (Sa.123) Dunsfold: Aircraft modifications and ground tests have limited flying during the month. Victor WB.771 (AS Sa.122/125/121/133) Boscombe Down: Flight trials continued to complete the programme before transferring to Radlett. Gannet VR.546 (DM.214) White Waltham: Following installation of DM.214 several defects occurred connected with the oil and propeller systems. Gannet WE.488 (DM.205) White waltham: it is hoped that the engine bay cooling test will show that some of the large cooling intakes behind the propellers may be deleted. Wyvern VZ.745 & VW.873 aircraft at Merryfield: Problems with aircraft handling. Apollo VX.220 (ASZ.134/132/124/122) Boscombe Down: The aircraft was returned to Boscombe from Stanstead for rectification of hydraulic trouble on the undercarriage. Apollo VX.220 (ASZ.131/133/120/130) Baginton: The aircraft was unserviceable throughout the month after parts had been removed to service VX.220. Balliol VL.892 (ASZ.125) Vibration trouble was cured when the propeller as refitted. Lancastrian VM.733 Canberra WD.933 Meteor WA.820. Memo attached from Mr Daish to Mr Chapma ( Blackburn and Wyvern aircraft): Blackburn. No flights. No troubles. Remains servicable. WYvern VW.868 Pilot's seat and canopy replaced after examination of hydraulic valve controlling flap operations. Aircraft not cleared for flight
