This list was compiled in July 1976 and revised in December 1990 and 1995

Administrative / biographical background

Southampton School Board was established in 1871 under the 1870 Education Act. In 1903 its powers were transferrred to the Education Committee of the corporation by the Education Act of that year. Details of the other School Boards are given in the list
