Description

3 ms diaries kept during his service with a Royal Engineers Wireless Signal Company in the West African Frontier Force in the Cameroons, September 1915 - February 1916, describing the West African climate and conditions and their effect on the radio equipment, while criticising the War Office, the WTS and senior officers stationed at the Base Headquarters, his initial enchantment with the Cameroons changing to a final intense dislike of the people, climate and country. Also held with the collection are a number of miscellaneous documents covering his military career, including his commission certificates, courier passports and letters of reference, April 1900 - May 1926.
