Docketed “Have receive copy of Gilbert Hamilton’s letter to me. Also Elliot’s drawing, the throttle gear of Monarch and observations on engines of that vessel. Letters to Muston went by post. Drawings of boat boilers wanted and allowance to be made for leaving out the iron bridges. The larger they are the more economical. Rennies want drawing of engine for 30 horse power. Downing has got his old hammerman from the United States – makes good work. Henry Wright has gone to the Foundry to examine the history of Monarch’s valves.”
