1164b. Trinity Dredge No. 2, Goliah (NI / FL). Jul. 1843, Jun., Oct., Nov. 1847, Oct., Nov. 1848, Apr. 1851. 17 items.
25 horse power side lever boat engine.

Cranks, blocks, shafts etc. - coloured original drawing (originally made for a land engine for Thomas Houldsworth but re-used for the Trinity dredge); plan and sections of boiler - partially coloured original, partially coloured direct copy and partially coloured reverse drawings made in the London office; plan of the engine and boiler and coal boxes, longitudinal and cross-sections of the boat showing engine and boiler - coloured original and coloured reverse drawings made in the London office; working gear - partially coloured original and coloured reverse drawings; governor and gearing, parallel motion - partially coloured original drawings. All these drawings bear letter codes.
Also tracing of a "Design for an Iron Dredger of 20 horses power" dated London, 12 Jul. 1843, "D & Ch."; tracing of plan of Trinity House dredging engine sent by James Brown; sketch of pump for the Doctor (Trinity House lighter) sent by William Langdon, Apr. 1851.

Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 970.

For the Corporation of Trinity House, London. Dredging boat. The engine was made in Jun. 1834 and coded NI. It was not sold to Trinity House until 1847, when it was re-coded FL. This engine was omitted from the Catalogue of Old Engines.
