'Inscribed:' 'These are many of the attitudes assumed by the lamas in their devotions, each of which has a different name.'. '1. Sagnon gnyumshak' [sa-gnon-gnam-gzag]. 'Sanon means that one hand is bent towards sa, the earth, and gnumshak contemplation. Shakya is' 'said to have assumed this position when he was only three years of age.'. '2.' 'Gnyumshak' [gnam-gzag]. 'Shakya placed his hands in this position when he was reading.'. '3. bSumstun' [bsam-stan]' Shakya sat in this position they say night and day for six years' [when he was in the desert]' in the Kingdom of Oudipa on the borders of Naracara.'. '4. bsKyuschin' [bskyabs-sbyin]' Shakya assumed this position after he had done his contemplation and was explaining everything to his disciples.'. '5. Chhoschud' [chos-chad]' Shakya explaining passages in his holy works.'. '6. Dingzub' [sdin-rdzub]' Shakya is said to have placed his fingers in this position when he reprimanded the Rakhas because they would not obey his orders: and this position of the fingers put them to flight.'.
