Administrative / biographical background

The Leah properties, accumulated mostly in the late eighteenth century, passed by inheritance to Dr. Thomas Leah of Stonehouse, Devon, and then in turn to his son, Dr. Noy Leah (died c. 1938), and his two daughters. After the sale of the property, the deeds and other documents were inherited by Mrs. Beagley as the only grandchild.
