Administrative / biographical background

Note: Daniel Dunglinson held a lease of the Little Mill, Cockermouth, from 1808 (see Leconfield estate records). The accounts cover a wide area around Cockermouth, mostly concerning the grinding of corn and the sale of flour, but also the carriage of building materials for use on the mill and drying kiln, etc. Dunglinson took over the mill after it ceased to be used for grinding bark, and probably remained the lessee until his death in early February 1838 (see Cockermouth Coroner's Inquests). Many interesting occupations are listed among the customers of the mill.
