Tss. memoirs (115 pp), written between 1919 and 1931, covering his service, mostly as a Company Commander, in the 7th Battalion Royal Scots (52nd Division) at Cape Helles, Gallipoli, in August and September 1915 and again from December until the final evacuation in January 1916; in Sinai and Palestine between January 1916 and November 1917, including the 2nd and 3rd Battles of Gaza and the advance beyond Gaza in November 1917; and as a junior staff officer at 156th Brigade and 52nd Division Headquarters in France from June 1918 until the Armistice. The narrative gives a detailed and basically objective record of his Battalion's operations.
