Yew Tree and Eskholme farms, Middleton were owned by the trustees of Joseph Gibson (died 1868) until 1904/5 when they were sold to Lord Shuttleworth. At one time Yew Tree farm appears to have been owned by the Moore family (see DDKS 25/27/10). High Field originally formed part of Yew Tree Farm, but was farmed with Beck Gate Head Farm, Middleton; hence it was included in the sale of 1904/5. Beckside House farm also formed part of the Gibson estates and was mortgaged to raise a charge in favour of Joseph Gibson's only surviving daughter, Margaret Ann (DDKS 25/27/11)
