The volume contains copies of enclosures to despatches from the Government of Bombay Secret Department to the East India Company Secret Committee. The volume is divided into five items:. Aden Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/382, ff 1-140); Bagdad [Baghdad] and Persian Gulf Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/382, ff 141-413); Persian Gulf Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/382, ff 414-557); Muscat and Zanzibar Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/382, ff 558-561); Aden Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/382, ff 562-69)

The enclosures to each despatch within the volume (each item) are divided by blue dividers. The sets of enclosures to despatches are arranged in numerical (by despatch number) and chronological order from the front to the rear of the volume. The enclosures within each despatch are preceded by an abstract of contents, in which the despatch itself (not included) is numbered 1, the abstract of contents 2, and the enclosures 3, 4, etc. The numbers listed in the abstract of contents are recorded for reference on the verso of the last folio of each enclosure, along with the original reference, and a description of each enclosure.

- Foliation: the foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the first folio with 1 and terminates at the last folio with 694; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio. A previous foliation sequence, which is also circled, has been superseded and therefore crossed out. The foliation sequence does not include the front and back covers, nor does it include the leading and ending flyleaves. Condition: The inside front cover and leading flyleaves are stuck together and have not been separated for conservation purposes.
