The CLDC had powers as a sewerage and sewage disposal authority under section 34 of the New Towns Act and records relating to the Savick Brook Sewer have been chosen to illustrate a major engineering project undertaken by the Corporation.
This is a trunk sewer designed with separate storm water and foul drainage systems along the valley of the Savick Brook. It is 8.8km. (5½ miles) in length of which 1.25km is in tunnel. The sewer was designed to serve the Grimsargh/Haighton part of the Designated Area (see NTC 15) and to replace the overloaded drainage systems from Longridge and Fulwood.
