British War and Victory Medals (79788 Sjt., M.G.C.); Russia, St. George Medal for Bravery, 4th Class, silver, rev. impressed, ‘No.1032306’, nearly extremely fine (3) £600-700Footnote: Isidore Hyams was born in Camden Town, London on 26 July 1895. A Motor Driver by occupation, he enlisted into the R.N.A.S. on 8 November 1914. Joining No.1 Squadron in November 1915, he embarked for Russia in December. In September 1916 he was on detached service on the Caucasian Front based at Charborg. During 30 November-2 December 1916 he was in action in the battle at Dobrudsha. He was awarded the St. George Medal for Bravery 4th Class (No.1032306) for the Topolul action; this was presented by General Sirelius at Hirsova on 8 December 1916. Later in December Hyams was on detached duty in Romania. After periods at the bases at Tiraspol and Brovary he returned to England, arriving there in October 1917. On 12 February 1918 he was transferred to the M.G.C. Sold with a riband bar and registered card box addressed to ‘Mr I. Hyams, c/o Hyams & Tobin, 66 Hatton Garden, London E.C.1’ and with copied service papers.
