Clitheroe County Petty Sessional Division was formed in 1873 when it split away from Blackburn County PSD, as did Accrington (later renamed Church) and Walton-le-Dale divisions in the same year.
It absorbed Clitheroe Borough Petty Sessions (PSCl) in April 1954 and continued until April 1974 when it became part of the new Pendle Magistrates Court.
