Description (What the record is about)
-
The firm of A W Hawksley Ltd originates from the inter-war period of consolidation within the British aircraft industry led by the Hawker Aircraft Ltd. At the end of World War II, the Ministry of Aircraft Production requested that AW Hawksley switched production from aircraft to non-traditional houses. The company began with single storey prefabricated designs, and later had designs for houses which were brick clad. These plans are for 2 storey brick clad houses. For more information on Hawksley Housing see: https://www.prefabmuseum.uk/content/history/aw-hawksley-ltd-and-the-factory-at-brockworth-guest-blog
