Ts and ms account (54pp) of his service with the Royal Corps of Signals, December 1941 - December 1946, including: training at Catterick, turning down the offer of a commission, December 1941 - ?June 1942; service as a linesman/operator with 12th Corps Signals in the Home Counties and Scotland; 1942 - ?1944; as a signalman attached to 1st Corps Signals in North West Europe, June 1944 - June 1945, landing on Sword Beach on 6 June 1944 and advancing through France, Belgium, Holland, and across the Rhine; and in the Far East, serving with the 14th Army in Burma, at the Signals Depot at Mhow in India, and the 7th Indian Division in Malaya, June 1945 - September 1946, when he was repatriated prior to demobilisation in December 1946; and commenting on the preparations for D-Day; collaboration; the black market; shortages of food; his attitude towards Germans; anti-fraternisation orders, and his reactions to his army service.
