Administrative / biographical background

The Company went into voluntary liquidation in 1947, having acted as conveyor of passenger and goods traffic from the centre of the town of Wantage to Wantage Road railway station, the main Western Region line. The course of the tramway track lay along the side of the Wantage - Oxford road and the site is now incorporated in the highway. These archives were presented by the last Chairman of the Company.
