A manor here was granted in 1327 to Thomas of Brotherton for life by Edward III, [VCH Oxon. xi. 93.] but in view of the participation of John the miller of South Newington, who is named in several charters relating to the Cranford inheritance (BCM/9/4), it is possible that the following charter belongs with the Cranford documents.
