From Harts Army List 1888, War Service of Officers:
Colonel Auchinleck served in the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58; and was present at the actions at Cawnpore on the 5th &
6th December 1857, and the defeat of the Gwalior Contingent, the action of Khodagunge, and the re-occupation of
Futtehghur. Was also present at Kunkur on 6th April 1858, and at the attack and capture of Fort Sandee and the pursuit
of Ferozeshah (medal). Served with the Royal Artillery in the Afghan War of 1878-80, and was present at the
engagement at All Kheyl (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt. Colonel, and medal). Served with the Burmese
Expedition in 1885-86 in command of the Line of Communications (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp.)
Armar is listed in Ireland's Memorial Records of the Great War, p. 58;
