Copy of bill of complaint in the Exchequer at Chester from John Charles of the City of Chester, tobacco spinner and cutter, to George, Earl of Cholmondeley, Chamberlain of the County Palatine. Concerning an action for debt brought against him by Thomas Bingley and John Hallwood, Treasurers, and others, in the Portmorte Court for 20s., a fine imposed on him for keeping shop and selling groceries in the City not being a freeman. 7ff

c. Copy of answer of Thomas Bingley and John Hallwood, defts., to bill of complaint of John Charles. Information about fairs, and about the Wrights and Slaters, who were all foreigners until twenty of them were admitted to the freedom in 24 Eliz. 4ff
