The society was first registered in 1863 as the Bedford Leigh Friendly Burial Society, and subsequently became the Leigh and District Friendly Burial Society and the Leigh Friendly Collecting Society.
The society was taken over by County Assurance Collecting Society on 1st April, 1980.
