Material originating in the Accountant-General's department, now in this volume:. p.34, ''The Trade to East India begun 1600''. A report signed by Sir Jeremy Sambrooke. Undated, but believed to be about Nov 1654. Records, among other facts, the total amounts subscribed by adventurers for each of the first twelve voyages, and the percentage returns made to them for each voyage. The figures disagree with those in the summary listed immediately above, but the overall totals agree within an explainable degree. No statements have been traced recording the gross amounts of the proceeds of those voyages, and it has not been possible to check the percentage returns. It is known that, in the first voyage, and possibly also in later ones, members of ships' companies were allowed amounts of adventure for which no payments were required, which may not have been included in the two immediately preceeding statements. A summary is printed in A Calendar of Court Minutes, 1650-1654 (1913), p.360; p. 50, The estate of the new General Stock, April 1772. A small account including the total amount of debt at interest (£137,242 4s 6d); p.180, Payments to the Governor, Deputy Governor and members of Committees for attendance at Court, 1707-1708 [/L/AG/19/1]
