Memo from Chief Engineer No.4 shop to Stress office: With reference to your note of the 12th instant, and confirming our conversation yesterday, concerning the modifications which you have requested shall be made to dummy blade weights to Scheme MS.1699, we would confirm that there are some 400 weights involved and that the cost of the modifications to these weights will be approximately £2,000 to £2,500. You may consider this to be somewhat excessive but we would explain that the heavy metal plugs which are required to be fitted to the blades will have to be split up from hexagon bar of fixed size, since this particular metal is only supplied in that form and, in addition, each of the weights requires jig boring or jig drilling for at least two holes.
