Administrative / biographical background

Alexander Blake (died 1845), George Webb Sandford and Charles Titcomb Blake (died 1870) formed a partnership in 1843 to trade as phamaceutical chemists at 47 Piccadilly. C.T. Blake's widow, Mary Ann Eliza assigned the business to Sandford on her husband's death in 1870. Charles Alexander Blake was taken into the partnership in 1883, but his relationship to the other members of the Blake family is not stated in the records.
