Photostats & photographs of items left by Barents on Novaya Zemlya.
SSC/3/1 - Photostat of record left by Barendsz [Barents] and Heemskerck at Nova Zemblaya in 1597 (SSC/3/1a). Found by Charles L.W. Gardiner who gave the original and other relics to the Netherlands Govt. (???See Pamphlet mgX 196.3???). With letter from the Dutch Minister of Marine, 10th March 1877, when presenting the Photostat (SSC/3/1b).
SSC/3/2 - Three photographs of Barents-related items at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam with accompanying note. Photographs supplied by the Rijksmuseum to Dr Richard Cyriax who, according to note on original envelope, appears to have passed them on to A.G.E. Jones. Jones, in turn, passed them to the Archives. [c.1950?].
