That of 19 Sept. 1824, started in London, sent "Off the Lizard by Pilot, 28 Sept. 1824", is stamped "Missent to London"; in which he says he has had his father's gold watch repaired - "Mr Atherley will send it to you." That of 29 Oct. 1824 describes St Jago, in the Cape Verde Islands, including the slave-trade, and local squalid filth of the streets, houses, etc. That of 19 March 1825 finds him back with Cousin William in Madras. Last item is his letter of introduction for Lt Sewell, for use at HJ, dated from Oopenangady, 30 Dec. 1825
