Custodial history (Describes where and how the record has been held from creation to transfer to The National Archives)
-
The references HA, HB and HC were used by the Sussex Archaeological Society for the listing of documents of a miscellaneous nature, almost exclusively deeds, received from a variety of sources between 1939 and 1959. The reference HA was adopted for a deposit by Edward Heron-Allen in 1939, and was augmented with material from other sources as far as HA 781, when the letters HB and HC were used for similarly miscellaneous material. Other material given or deposited by the same individuals was often assigned to other collections. On the transfer of the Society's collections of documents to ESRO in 1982 the references were altered to SAS/HA, HB and HC
