False Bay: vicinity of Simon's Town. 'A Plan of Simon's Bay'. Chart shows coastline, hydrography, anchorages, topography, land use including dockyard, settlements, buildings, military installations, land marks, sight lines, remarks. Colour manuscript. Watermark: 'J Whatman, 1815'. Latitude and longitude referred to in remarks; north point with compass indicator showing true and magnetic north (orientation to the northwest by west). Scale: 3.1 inches to 900 yards. Attributed to Captain Robert Wauchope, His Majesty's Ship Eurydice by annotation, by endorsement and by Lieutenant Alexander Becher. Annotated assignation: 'R Wauchope, Captain Eurydice (annotation torn and partially obscured)'. Endorsed: 'Received from Captain Robert Wauchope, HMS Eurydice, 22 December 1817' with stamp: 'Hydrographical Office'
