Wilts.), spinster, Matthew Targett of Salisbury aforesaid, grocer, and w.Elizabeth, John Ventham Grigg of Lewes, grocer, and William Grigg of Havant aforesaid, miller, and w. Elizabeth, (c) John Leggatt of Chichester, butcher, and John Battock of Chichester, victualler
Close of land (1½a.) lying in a field called Wimble Field near Canons Well; three closes of meadow or pasture ground (20a.) called Hooke otherwise Craswellers Hook otherwise Hooklands, lying contiguous to each other and bounded with the lands late of Mr. Wheeler and now of [blank] Allen on W., lands heretofore of John Wakeford, afterwards of said Mr. Wheeler, Martha Longhurst and Richard Diggens, and now of John Diggens, William Ridge and Joseph Hardham on S., lands heretofore of the widow Stockden and the Bishop of Chichester, formerly in occ. of Thomas Palmer and now or late of John Drew and William Ridge on N., and other lands heretofore of said Martha Longhurst and William Peachey, surgeon and now of said John Diggens, William Newman and [blank] on E., and which last mentioned closes were heretofore in occ. of George Barrell but now of said John Leggatt: all in New Fishbourne
From (a), at the request and by direction of (b), to said John Leggatt, and his trustee, said John Battock. The consideration money paid by said John Leggatt to (a)
Recites: (i) that Deborah Andrews of Havant aforesaid, wid, decd. (formerly Deborah Ventham, wid.) in her will (dated 7 Aug. 1797) devised all her freehold closes of land in 'Fishbourne' to (a), in trust to pay the rents and profits to her dau. Elizabeth for life, then to sell the property and divide the money arising equally among her granddaughters, said Mary Grigg and said Elizabeth Targett, her grandson, said John Ventham Grigg, and said Elizabeth, w. of her said grandson, William Grigg (except that the trustees should only pay to Elizabeth Grigg the interest on her share, and after her death divide her share among her children by said William Grigg); (ii) that Elizabeth, dau. of the testatrix has lately died, and that (a) have agreed to sell the property to said John Leggatt, as above
