Description

Of a record and process of plea before John de Reygate and his brethren, justices itinerant, at Chichester on 25 June 1279, when said Roger, by Robert de Chiggewell, his attorney, claimed to have in his manor of Bosham return of writs, view of frankpledge, assize of bread and ale, amercements of the sheriff's tourn in the same [sic] hundred, infangenthief, toll and team, soc and sac, wreck of the sea, warren throughout the whole hundred aforesaid, and quittance from stallage and toll throughout the whole kingdom, to which the knights [of the shire] replied that the said Earl and his ancestors had used the aforesaid liberties, although Hugh Bygod, father of that Roger, made a warren in his manor of Stoughton without warrant, and that Roger has made a warren in his manor of [west] Stoke, and that it was considered that from henceforth he has no warren there.
