The donor, born in 1932 is the son of James and Stella Longden. His parents separated when he was a child and his father emigrated soon afterwards to Australia. His mother died recently, but he believes his father is still alive, aged 82. Before moving to Australia, James Longden worked for Manchester Corporation Transport as a bus driver. His wife was employed by Metro Vickers Ltd. Her mother, May Miller also worked for the company, retiring from it at the age of 70 after 42 years service. His mother had an older brother William, his father had 3 brothers and a sister. Both families came from the Manchester area. The donor, an only child, has been unemployed for the past 3 years.
