Folio 113. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to Walter May Barton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union in response to his letter dated 24 February 1885 requesting their sanction to the payment by the guardians, of £2 to George Taylor, Medical Officer of the Mattishall district in the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, for his services in the case of James Reeve.
They state that although they will not refuse their sanction to the proposed payment they are not prepared to assent to the payment of an extra fee for any similar case in the future because in their opinion the use of the catheter is not such an operation as should under ordinary circumstances constitute a claim of extra payment.
