2. William Holmes (father of Roger Holmes) of Newport, Mercer.
Lease and Release of a cottage with appurtenances in the possession of Richard Williams on Calveton or Calvington Heath par. Edgmond near to a place where the starting post did then stand, and a piece of heath ground as was enclosed by Wm. Holmes and divided into 10 pieces being part of Caynton Heath or Calveton or Calvington being near Calveton village, extending from the upper corner of land called the Heath Leasow held by Thomas Talbott belonging to Calveton to a place called the Quarry Bank and then to the Roadway leading from the town of Newport to Hinstock and so on the outside of a Little Hill to the lower corner of a piece of land part of the said heath, inclosed by Ric. Williams and laid to the cottage, the piece of land measures 120a. and lies up to a Stone Quarry on the heath eastward, land in the holding of John Bishop of Stanfords Bridge called the Farnish Croft northward to an enclosure in the holding of John Hinstock called the heathy leasows westward and to other inclosures in the holding of Thomas Talbott called Heathy Leasows southwards.
Proviso for re-entry on non-payment of rent.
Annual rent: £3.

Mortgage by Lease and Release to secure £700 at 4½% of a messuage, cottage and other premises as described before in Calveton, par. Edgemond now in the possession of Wm. Holmes Francis Holmes and Roger Holmes.
Proviso for redemption. Clause of warranty.
Covenants.
Endorsed: Memorandum of agreement that the mortgage shall continue for 4 years and that if Wm. Woodhouse shall wish to withdraw £100 or £200 from the principal he shall give 3 months notice and Roger Holmes promises to pay the same.
