Microfilm of his ts account (149pp, written c. 1970) with few dates of his experiences while serving with the RAOC (later REME) as a storekeeper in a Light Aid Detachment in North Africa and Italy, May 1942 - July 1945, including: the voyage from Clydeside, Scotland via Freetown, Sierra Leone, and Cape Town, South Africa, to Port Tewfik, Egypt, ?May 1942; active service with the Eighth Army in the Delta and the desert, May 1942 - ?early 1944; and Italy, ?early 1944 - July 1945, when he was repatriated; and commenting on his duties; his off-duty entertainment, notably NAAFI concerts and drinking; the employment of dummy vehicles to deceive the enemy; hospitalisation for desert sores, jaundice, and gastro-enteritis; his equipment; the conditions and rations; educational correspondence courses; being warned by the CO not to expose themselves to unnecessary danger as skilled craftsmen were in short supply; being disciplined; religion; being shelled; and his reunion with his wife and daughter.
