John Flavel was born at Rushbury in 1735 and buried at Meole Brace in 1813. He was Master of Westbury School (1764-86) and Master of Cleobury Mortimer Free School (1786-1801). John Flavel's sermons were edited by his daughter Mary for publication in 1852.
