Memoranda on the Madras Petition.

Note

The Madras Petition was a petition from the native inhabitants of the presidency of Madras which sought a redress of grievances and the transfer of the administration of the British territories in India from the East India Company to the Crown. The petition emanated from a public meeting convened by the sheriff and was signed by 14,000 persons.
