D Whitmore's internal memos technical correspondence from 1970 to 1985. TG Smith E/DTL/2/257/401. Investigation into a Mk.202 engine 'flame-out' which occurred during a stall turn manoeuvre revealed that a number of turbine segment vanes were extensively eroded and cracked. the leading edge of one vane being 'holed' and the edges folded back into the gas stream
