The Etiquette files of the Political Agency, Bahrain, contain files from the 1930s and 1940s concerning: gun salutes for British officials and members of the various Arab ruling families in the Gulf; social etiquette (such as terms of address, relative seniority of British officials and seating plans for dinner parties) for various social occasions involving British officials, members of the Gulf ruling families, and visiting dignitaries; and the flying of flags on sparsely inhabited islands in the Gulf.
