There has been a pharmacist's business at 4 High Street, Berkeley since at least the mid 19th century. Different people owned the business over the years but the prescription books listed below come mostly from the time of the Warners, first George and later Vivian, with small sections from George Warner's predecessor Walter Noak and Vivian Warner's successor, Gillon. The business has now moved to Market Square and the widow of the last pharmacist lives in the original premises. It is reputed that on a pane of glass in the window of 4 High street is scratched the name 'Marklove' who was one of Jenner's guinea pigs for his smallpox vaccinations.
